The pavement and subbase thicknesses are developed to face up to the wheel loads. In some cases, geogrids are employed to bolster the subbase and even further reinforce the roadways. Drainage, like ditches, storm drains and underdrains are utilized to eliminate drinking water in the roadbed, blocking it from weakening the subbase and subsoil.[30]
